So what’s the best local attraction in Central New Jersey? New York City of course! If you are interested in visiting the city while you are here there are many ways to get there.
New Jersey Transit provides train service from Westfield and Summit to New York Penn Station. If you are looking for a more direct way to Downtown New York you can take New Jersey Transit to Newark Penn Station and take the PATH train to destinations including the new World Trade Center, the financial district, Chinatown and shopping in SoHo. Bus service to Port Authority Bus Terminal (8th Ave. and 42nd St.) is also available from New Jersey Transit.
The Statue of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty is located on Liberty Island, in New York Harbor between New York and New Jersey. Entry is free although you have to pay for the ferry which is the only way to visit Liberty Island. A forty minute trip from Westfield, the Statue of Liberty is worth a visit if you’ve never been.
The Mall at Short Hills
Located 15 minutes by car from Westfield, Short Hills Mall is one of the most famous malls in America. The Mall at Short Hills is a upscale mall with many designer shops as well as large department stores.
